Old Palace School Mufti-Day

Mufti-Day at Old Palace

Rachel Francois-Walcott, (Garth’s daughter) has been a pupil at the Old Palace School during her primary education. She has always been immersed in the discussion and dialogue surrounding KASSSI for quite some time and in an effort to support the charity, she suggested that KASSSI should get involved in promoting and publicising the aims and goals of the charity at her school’s ‘Mufti-Day’.

The day was an outstanding success with a considerable turnout and fantastic weather. KASSSI also benefited from the initiative by making some new found friends, and raising the awareness of the charity’s ethos and efforts!

Garth Walcott subsequently received a letter from Anne Neale, the school’s Business Manager’s Assistant, advising that the Whitgift Foundation was to make a donation of £ 383.00 to KASSSI’s bank account from the charity donations amassed on the day! She also said she was sure that with money donated to KASSSI, the committee ‘will be able to put it to good use.’ KASSSI will ensure that these heartfelt donations will go towards enriching the lives of other, less fortunate children, in Jamaica.

Anne can be contacted at the school using the information below:

Garth Walcott, in response to this generous donation delivered this response to Anne:

On behalf of KASSSI the Charity and the children in rural communities in Jamaica, we would like to extend our heart-felt appreciation to the children, parents and staff at Old Palace School for your most generous donation. Please be assured that all funds will be spent in the pursuit of enhancing the childrens’ learning and development and supporting community development.

As a new and upcoming charity, KASSSI is finding it extremely difficult to attract backers and funders. Consequently, we would welcome an opportunity to visit Old Palace and take some pictures of the school/children presenting KASSSI with a “Pretend” cheque. This would then be used on the charity’s website and also in publications etc. Our new website is currently being constructed and we would love to show a picture of Old Palace as a “Friend Of KASSSI”
