This is the ONLY ONE in the village and it was built by local builders and jointly funded by KASSSI and Jamaica National Bank! This bus stop offers some shelter to the children but it also acts as a reminder to drivers to slow down as there are likely to be children about.
It came about after listening to the School Council (adhering to the wishes of the people), who were concerned about the dangerous speeds the vehicles were going on the straight and flat road right outside the school. It is built by villagers- providing employment for local people- with financial support from the Jamaica National Bank and KASSSI… so working in partnership. Situated right outside Petersville School, this shelter not only provides cover for children, it also acts as a traffic calming measure with its bright colours reminding drivers that there are children in the vicinity! In addition the construction serves as an advert for the builders who can also expect to attract employment due to their involvement in the structure.
